On Wednesday the 17th of June Mrs McLaughlin our school ICT technician delivered a sketching workshop in St. Mary's College with the year 11 technology pupils. She took them through different examples of how art is used in STEM subjects and explained how creativity is essential to success in STEM. They then practised sketching using pen and wash (i.e. drawing with fountain pens and then using water to make the ink run in order to shade the picture). After that, they moved on to practising adding depth to sketches using perspective and incorporating the horizon line and vanishing points in order to do so. The pupils did incredibly well and hopefully gained some confidence when it comes to sketching out their designs. Thank you Mrs McLaughlin and St. Mary's for the invite to collaborate!!!
