Special Educational Needs (SEN)

St. John’s Primary School prides itself on the provision of high-quality education for all children.  It is widely acknowledged that some children, at various stages of their development, require additional help when they experience difficulties with a particular aspect of their work.  Therefore, the school follows the SEN Code of Practice to identify, assess and allocate specific provisions for all children who may have special educational needs. The progress of children with SEN is monitored at each of the 3 stages of the Code of Practice and review meetings take place with children and parents to discuss progress and decide on the next course of action. The Learning Support Co-ordinator oversees the implementation of the Code of Practice and liaises with school staff and external support agencies to identify and support children’s individual needs through the creation of Personalised Learning Plans.
