Skills in Numeracy help children make informed and responsible choices and decisions throughout their lives. Children acquire and consolidate mathematical knowledge, concepts and skills within the Area of Learning for Mathematics and Numeracy. Children are given opportunities to transfer their understanding, as appropriate, to other contexts across the curriculum. They demonstrate their mathematical knowledge, understanding and skills in a variety of ways to communicate, manage information, think critically, solve problems and make decisions. They acquire mathematical concepts in a variety of contexts which engage the children in playing, exploring, investigating, doing, observing, talking, listening, asking and answering questions. Children are given opportunities to use ICT to support and enhance their mathematics.
