This week, we’re celebrating Maths Week Ireland with lots of exciting activities in 3B! We kicked off the week with a morning problem-solving competition, sparking curiosity and teamwork right from the start. Our classroom is buzzing with mathematical thinking, featuring a Working Wall and an Estimation Station to support our learning journey.
We began our exploration with Symmetry, using mirrors to investigate reflections, identifying symmetrical shapes, and creating eye-catching symmetrical cut-outs. The children had great fun designing Halloween-themed symmetrical cauldrons and crafting symmetrical Halloween monsters out of playdough—a perfect blend of creativity and maths! These hands-on activities have brought symmetry to life in a fun and memorable way.
There’s plenty more hands-on fun and learning to come as Maths Week continues. Stay tuned for more updates from our brilliant young mathematicians!
