🍓Investigating how food preserves 🍓

Published: 1st May, 2026

P6A did an experiment using some strawberries and a variety of containers. We put two strawberries each into a covered plastic container, a zip bag and an uncovered plate and placed them on the window sill. Our aim was to see which container best preserved the strawberries over a period of time. We predicted what might happen and recorded our observations. Four days later, the covered strawberries looked soft and mouldy! The strawberries on the plate were soft and soggy! Why?  The high moisture content of the strawberries combined with 'air' and our 'warm' classroom created an ideal environment for our strawberries to mould! Vaccum sealed packs would have better! Look at our strawberries! 🍓🍓🍓
