Our class worked together to carry out a hands on capacity investigation, exploring and comparing a variety of containers. Using water and measuring tools, pupils predicted which containers would hold the most, then tested their ideas by carefully filling, measuring and recording results. Through practical experimentation, the class discovered how shape, height and width all affect capacity, developing both their measurement skills and their ability to reason scientifically.
